Tracedawn
Band: TracedawnCountry: Finland
Tracedawn was formed in 2005 by guitarrist Tuomas Yli-Jaskari under the name Moravia. He wrote a song that would later on become called as "Without Walls", and by that point he started recruiting members for the band to take form. Soon enough he saw himself surrounded by a group of extremely talented young musicians. They had two vocalist during this period, Antti Lappalainen being the one chosen to remain with the band for the next years. With the new functional line-up, the band locked itself into Studio Redhouse and recorded a demo called Path of Reality, still under the Moravia moniker. It was well received on the internet, and also caught the interests of various record labels.
After changing their names to Tracedawn, and adding Vili Itäpelto as a keyboard player, they signed a record contract with Redhouse FMP in late 2007 and vigorously started to record their first official release. The band recorded a four song EP and went fishing for partners and soon convinced Playground Music Scandinavia and Drakkar Entertainment to collaborate with them. The recordings of the debut album went down at Sonic Pump Studios, under the eye of producer Nino Laurenne, who is known of his work for Finnish metal bands such Thunderstone, Stratovarius and Children Of Bodom amongst others. The 8 track metal monster was mixed by Mikko Karmila (Nightwish, Children of Bodom, Amorphis…) and mastered by Mika Jussila (Nightwish etc…), at the infamous Finnvox Studios.
Tracedawns' self-titled debut was released in Finland in March 2008 and Central Europe in August of the same year. The release resulted in great reviews and features in media all around Europe, storming about the technical capabilities and songwriting skills of the young band. The guys soon found themselves rocking the stages of the biggest venues and summer festivals in Finland. The summer of 2008 resulted also in the first line-up change for the band (as Tracedawn), when bass player Henri Vahtere was replaced with the bands long time friend Pekko Heikkilä.
After the successful year 2008 Tracedawn already had songs ready for their second album. Replacing Jeremy Qvick with Roni Seppänen, on the rythm guitar, the band hooked up with producer Janne Joutsenniemi (Stam1na, Suburban Tribe etc.), also known from Finnish metal legend Stone. Thrilled about the opportunity to work together with one of the most appreciated metalheads in Finland, the band started to work their ideas into reality at Seawolf and Redhouse Studios.
With Ego Anthem, released in 2009, Tracedawn redeems the high expectations their well received debut set upon them, and takes them even further. The new album represents a self-assured band that combines strong melodies and furious riffs into a progressive, dynamic and contagious metal music.
As of January of 2011, Antti Lappalainen left the band during the recording process for the third album, due this year. The band is now looking for a replacement, while working on the new album.
